Element Cycles On and Off: Normal or Not?
On a Wolf radiant cooktop, an element that brightens, fades and brightens again while it cooks is holding the level you chose, and only a few patterns point to a fault.

Heat in bursts
Wolf builds its electric cooktops to heat in bursts. Each element runs flat out or not at all, and a higher setting gives it longer bursts and shorter rests, so the rests are longest at the low end. Nothing holds the element at half strength; the setting you pick is a timing pattern, and the rise and fall you see is that pattern being kept.
Rings that follow the centre
Dual, triple and oval elements heat their outer rings at the same level as the centre, and Wolf’s guide says those rings cannot be switched on without it. Zone 2 brings in the second ring, Zone 3 the third on a triple, and Oval the extension on the 30-inch model. Another touch on the same pad takes a ring back out; On/Off stops the whole element.
